The TLD count next to each keyword represents how many separate domain extensions that keyword has been registered in. When a keyword shows up across 600+ TLDs, it means hundreds of independent registrants - companies, investors, brand protection teams, and speculators - all decided that keyword was worth owning.

Important Context

Brand protection inflates some rankings. Companies like Amazon, Google, Meta, and Rolex register their trademarks across hundreds of TLDs as a defensive strategy. Amazon sitting at #2 with 884 TLDs does not mean "amazon" is a great keyword to invest in - it means Amazon's legal team is thorough. The same applies to shopify, whatsapp, tudorwatch, meta, and others you'll recognize as corporate names. When scanning this list for investment ideas, mentally separate the brand protection registrations from organic keyword demand.

"nic" tops the list at 1,489 TLDs for a boring reason. Most TLD registries reserve nic.tld for their own use (network information center). It is not an investable keyword - it is infrastructure.
